Is it bad that I have a good amount of gray hair at 17?

Off the top of my head I can name five people I’ve known who had gray streaks or peppering before college.  To my knowledge it’s just genetic.

But hey!  There’s that rad gray hair trend happening now, I say play it up!

Anonymous asked: hi!! i really love your art style (esp the ways you use color) but i can't figure out what brushes you use to achieve it :( would you be ok with posting them? (If not it's fine!!!)

riibrego:

thank you, I’m really glad you like it!!! :’) and yeah, I’m super ok with posting em!! here are the custom sai brushes I’ve been using most heavily (I hope my texture names aren’t too different from yours!):

image

the first brush is my go-to lineart brush! it gives a really interesting texure, but has hard enough edges that it never appears too fuzzy. when used at a larger brush size with heavier pressure, it makes big solid splotches that can be nice for adding some interest in your colors!

I use the second brush pretty sparingly - really only to add occasional texture to hard-lined shadows or highlights.

the third one used to be my favorite, but I’ve been using it extremely rarely these days (aside from sketching, it makes a nice sketch brush! feels a little more natural than using a harder brush). it’s pretty good at getting blended coloring without looking too unnatural or smooth.

but lately for coloring I’ve mostly been using a standard hard round brush! kind of the blandest default there is, haha…. but it can be nice!

be sure to experiment with using them at different sizes and with different amounts of texture; you can get a lot of mileage out of the first and third ones once you get used to them! also keep in mind that I use them on large canvases, so you see them once they’ve been resized. they’ll likely look different at 100% on a small canvas!

I hope this helps!!

Caught in a rather good romance

It sounds like I’m playing a video game and someone is trying to sell me potions. :D

…that is exactly what it sounds like
