when me and mad were in 3D design class together there was this one kid I had secretly nicknamed “Olan Mills” because he dressed and acted as wholesomely as if he had stepped out of a ’70s yearbook photo
then for the final he made a Sculpey maquette of a wolf bloodily clawing its way out of a screaming naked woman’s womb
i remember it being a bit more of an awkward critique than usual
man what is w/ 3D design classes? one dude in mine made a sculpture of himself being eaten by his own giant, sentient dick.
FUN FACT: the third dimension in 3D design is actually “shock value”, apparently

The Sad part of this. Is that … I kinda fit in the “I’m going to be a famous manga artist”… because there’s no … “Umm.. I kinda wanna draw comics or do concept art for video games” role in this thing… and I am working for viz… Dang it! But yeah… That was pretty much my drawing class right then and there.

Right?“ “Yeah I thought you were going to teach us how to become better artists and instead you’re teaching us to convey messages with little to no techincal ability." "Well if that was the case you should have gone to a more technical school.” “Oh I’m sorry, I thought I went to artschool to learn how to draw, but I guess I should expect much from the professor who’s talking down to me while wearing purple star pants, and hasn’t done any of his own projects in years.”

… I was a trouble maker! a LONER! a Rebel! Also apparently getting confrontational with professors was the only way to get their respect. I had to do this 3 or 4 times with various professors, just to be like “listen, my ‘message’ I want to convey is I want to learn how to become better at What ever this class is…” My fault at choosing a “gallery art” school.
This was the first time using my new Escoda Perla brush! This brush holds a lot of pigment, so you don’t have to reload with paint as often. The outlines were done with the Escoda brush and the filling in/gradient was done with Da Vinci + Princeton watercolour brushes. Paper is Archers hot press watercolour paper.
