Banned Books by the Numbers: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/09/22/banned-books-week-infographic_n_5852234.html

What’s interesting about this, I think, is that there’s an even split for book banning in conservative vs liberal states. You can only see a distinct line in at the top of the Bible Belt, but below it it goes down a lot. Texas and Oregon though… seriously guys?

Personally I’m against book banning, with the exception of an explicit book being required reading. If a child is required to read a book that makes them uncomfortable, or goes against their religious beliefs then they most certainly should be able to opt out.

Anonymous asked: what should i freaking do if guests CANNOT wait to have their orders taken? i work in starbucks and literally every time i go to the back to get more mix, mocha, whatever, or do any dishes, people feel the need to actually walk INTO THE KITCHEN.

thetargetbreakroom:

I would say, “GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE!, READ THE GODDAMN SIGN OR YOU GET NOTHING!” ”Sir/Ma’am, can you please get out of the kitchen. I am only but one person who has to fulfill many people’s orders and I am limited to how many I can do at a time. So please if you will leave so I may have the necessary supplies to do my FUCKING job.

But really, I hate when they spring up on me while I’m in the kitchen. Totally uncalled for.

It’s also not allowed because of sanitation violation. You legitimately have no idea where they’ve been before they walk in.

Anonymous asked: My store didnt recieve any of the new redcard pamphlets and we might not be able to sign guests up for redcards tomorrow cuz the only store in the district that got them wont share and wont photo copy them to us. OMG.

thetargetbreakroom:

A Target that can’t asked their guests for REDcards, where is this store and when can I start? lol

No kidding!

In an effort to maintain their ability to stay in office, the Democrat party will do anything and everything to maintain power. Permit illegals to vote, have children and dead people voting, and have a huge block of criminals and felons to support them. In order to accomplish this they need to have them vote. So they are against voter ID.

How about the USA enacts the Iranian, Russian and Iraq method of voting.  Once you vote, your index finger is died black.  That will at least prevent repeat voters.

Wait what the fuck
You don’t need ID to vote in America???????
Why not that literally makes no sense couldn’t someone vote twice or something??????

It’s a really silly concept. But no you don’t.

That’s so weird. And it’s an actual controversial problem over there? Shit, over here it’s like ‘Hey, Catholics and Protestants are now equal on the voting thing, 1 vote per person instead of the way it used to be, so bring your ID and vote!’
And everybody is just like ‘WOO NOT UNDER DIRECT RULE WE CAN PUT PEOPLE IN CHARGE YEY!’

It’s apparently racist to I.D people to vote.

But on the other hand, I get I.D to go into Applebee’s after 10 p.m.

Which one is more important to get I.d for?

Fuck the entire thing has just skewed everything about America for me I mean
You’ll get an ID to get alcohol or into a club or bar or restaurant or whatever, but not to vote people into power?
I mean there is people over 40 who don’t have ID?! Nah man I’m too tired to work out the logistics of that

I literally had no idea America doesn’t require IDs to vote.
That is completely fucked.
You’re a bunch of fucking eejits.

Hence why a bunch of dead people voted for Bush, and even Mickey Mouse came out to vote for Obama.

Requiring ID to vote is “blatant racism against minorities and illegals” blah blah blah.

Our elections are totes legit, though, because everyone in America is completely honest all the time.

The only comparison that can be given is back when the South was trying to prevent Black Americans from voting, they used a reading test and required literacy.  At the time, education was not equal nor necessarily required and the test was effective.

Nowadays you can get an ID if you provide paperwork proving you are an American citizen, proving you are your state’s citizen, and proof of residency (utility bills can be used).  There is also sometimes a fee, but at least in my home state of Virginia that fee is waived for your first ID.

Given this, the only legal citizens I can see possibly being deterred from getting an ID to vote are:

-Homeless/People in extreme poverty

-Lazy people

-People with bad time management

Only one of those demographics can actually make a valid claim of being negatively effected, but that could be something easily resolved (if it isn’t already to my knowledge).

Given that ~87% of driving-age US citizens have driver’s licenses, that means the other 13% would need to get these ID’s.  ~.2% of US citizens are homeless (though it feels like a lot more than that, I’d love a fact double check if someone knows better than I), so I’d assume that means the other >12% could get an ID.

Given all that, there really is no reason whatsoever to NOT require ID’s to register and vote.  I had to check people’s ID’s to buy lighters and cough syrup when I cashiered at Target, asking for one to vote is more than reasonable.
