Also, it looks like a victory for democracy just when we needed to come together to move forward. But, just like in the real world, when times of peace return, the citizens will clamor for the rights back. I predict a period of anarchy until the next conflict.
Our true savior Flareon has been freed from the evil of BILL’S PC and now walks among us!
I just imagine when it’s democracy mode on TPP that Red has leaden feet and the brain of a Slowpoke.

What if the “democracy/anarchy” option was the real social experiment the whole time?
What if that was the point? So that we could watch how a mass of people has to make decisions on how a program will be run to reach an end goal? How one system may not be the fastest but it is more efficient and involves less backtracking?
I actually just saw someone in the chat say “screw democracy this is so slow”.
This is it. This is the whole point.
The entire thing is a social experiment. It just so happened that we worked our way up to evolving the global level of the experiment to one where the options of democracy and anarchy systems were necessary for progress.
This. The way I see it, originally if players teamed up/worked to a common goal through the original (now called anarchy) system, it would have worked out to a sort of democracy. But the lag, overwhelming number of players, and difficulty of some tasks (Rocket maze) prevented that from happening on its own. so the democracy mode was implemented.
That said, the anarchy/democracy system created an immediate visualization of the votes either way and that is COOL. Red is sort of the mass of humanity, the chat is the people, the anarchy/democracy bar is the running visual of the peoples’ opinions over what the government mode to control humanity’s progress should be.
(Although I guess the visualization fails when one side spams start9 to further slow/halt progress in an attempt to force their hand)(Which is in itself another very interesting analogy to actual governments. Can you say FILIBUSTERING)
I agree with everything you say up until the “start9=filibustering” comparison, but even then I kind of half agree.
Filibustering was invented as a way to protect the rights of the minority party in the senate, preventing the majority from jamming through laws without any debating or compromising. By having the filibuster, it forces the majority to work with the minority to compromise. Filibustering COULD be used just to buck the system (much like how start9 is abused) when someone doesn’t have their way, but that is not why it was invented.
But yes! The natural evolution of the democracy/anarchy option is really riveting! And on a side note, the invention of the “Helix Fossil Religion” is another interesting natural development. When faced with insurmountable odds, humans almost always gravitate towards some sort of supernatural outside force that is either causing the trouble (Flareon) or blessing them (Helix Fossil). We see this with religion or even athletes and students who have special routines or lucky charms.
Maybe there will be calls for a Helix Fossil theocracy.
Also I think there should be a republic option so we can vote for people to represent our “stance” on how the game should be played and they’ll play for us. For the sake of this experiment.
