It’s day three and we have had two baristas hospitalized, one transfer stores, one was fired, and our manager put in her two weeks notice.
This is the one Hunger Games I might actually win.
Update: two more baristas put in their two week notice.
There are only three of us left now.
Good time to ask for a raise.
The sad part is I did just get a raise, a whole $.38 per hour, which is rather generous compared to the $.12 I got last year. So I’m almost making $11 an hour now.
On the upside, the store is so desperate to appease us and keep us from jumping ship, whenever we stay longer to cover the shifts from missing people, they buy us $20 gifts. I’ve gotten a nice face cream and a new dress.
It is just bad timing because it’s my last week of school and I have to have five papers and a creative writing portfolio done by Friday. After this week, I’ll be willing to put in a bit more time without being scheduled for it.
