Exactly!  Then there was when Jesus died on the cross, who was it that was first, “Oh crap… we dun goofed!”?  A centurion.  A Roman.  He was the first to recognize the atrocity.  If this is supposed to be the story of the savior of the Jews, for the Jews, why would a gentile care?  Because his recognition was symbolic of the fact that now gentiles could be saved, not just the Jews.
