I feel like some strange combination of those street corner preachers screaming, “THE END IS NIGH, REPENT YOUR SINS” and the grizzled war vet heading for their third tour of duty, but I have literally spent the past three days at Target trying to convince our Team Leads that we are not ready for Black Friday.
We literally have ONE PERSON scheduled from 12:15 to 3:30pm on Friday. She’s ALONE at Starbucks for over three hours. We have another girl alone from 12:30 to 2am during the BOGO free holiday drink special. Half of our trained staff isn’t even working in Starbucks, they’re cashiering. For the entirety of Friday we’ll never have more than two people in Starbucks when in past years we’ve had at least three people.
I went to HR and asked about that because it just didn’t seem right and she just coolly told me that this has been approved by our LOD and DM so there’s nothing we can do about it. Okay, so do they WANT the highest selling location to be run by one person for over three hours on Black Friday? We literally had more coverage yesterday, a normal Friday, than we will on Black Friday. Something is messed up there and I don’t feel as if I can trust our Team Lead to make it right. We’ve had this schedule for a week now and she didn’t notice these huge problems that I found after ONE CHECK of the schedule. It honestly feels like sabotage at this point.
When someone hates you so much they take it out on the pastries then run out of the building.
Like she just wasted over $50 worth of food then left me to clean it up. If the Lord is merciful then the camera caught it all.
Best part is my next four shifts are with her!!
At work I needed to calibrate the coffee grinder, so I put it at the finest setting possible and ground some beans to make sure it reached a soft, baby powder texture. It should clump easily, feel soft, etc.
I wound up just grinding coffee and playing with it like moon sand and threatening my coworker with coffee snowballs.
Sbux Baristas–
We did it, guys and gals. We survived Happy Hour 2015.
So one of my coworkers was convinced it was safe to spray our store’s sanitizer in his mouth because the box said “organic” on it.
Now I’ve never taken a chemistry class but I know there’s a difference between organic compounds and FDA certified organic. Clearly he didn’t. Okay. But he also missed the warning signs all over the same box that said “WARNING CORROSIVE HARMFUL IF INGESTED”.
The look on his face when I explained this to him was priceless.
Today at work I had three girls ask if I was bi and single.
That’s a new record. Because I get hit on by a LOT more girls than guys lately.
One of them was sort of prompted because she was the friend of a coworker and we got into a short convo about KorrAsami, but the other two??? Idk maybe I’m sending out vibes I’m not even aware of.
Whelp today was probably my worst day at work ever. I think everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong. From being verbally abused by a coworker, to having the hot water tank break, to never ending lines of customers clutching giftcards in the their frozen mitts demanding frappuccinos. If the pay wasn’t so good I would’ve left ages ago and days like today make me wonder if it’s worth it.
I just want December to end.
Target opens at 6pm Thanksgiving Day this year for Black Friday
That horrible sound you heard was my soul shattering.
For anyone that remembered the situation with my inappropriate coworkers, here’s an update:
I spoke with HR about it and they spoke to our team lead, and they spoke to the coworkers in question. Since then the inappropriate behavior let up a bit, but other things have gotten worse.
A few days after being spoken to, the boy in the couple confronted two of our coworkers, accusing them at work of “telling on him”. They both let him have it, telling him how vastly inappropriate he was being in accusing them, how this is the behavior that everyone has a problem with, and he needs to get over it and sort himself out.
Since then, the couple has been exceedingly incompetent. They come late, leave early, repeatedly fail to do assigned tasks asked of them, and refuse to act like decent human beings to the rest of us. We’re getting extraordinarily busy now as we start getting into the HalloThanksMas season and this is the worst time to be dealing with their toddler temper tantrums.
So, our ETL and team lead are holding a special meeting with all of us next week. I spoke to our TL about it today because amazingly enough our work schedules lined up, and she said briefly it was going to address all this nonsense. And that she was not gonna be nice.
This is what happens when you have ~8 young, uneducated women (and one moody teenage dudebro) working together. Ugh.
