Here, I respond to the pitch, rhythm, and emotional impact of “Flies and Spiders” by Howard Shore from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, by means of paint.

Most of you know that moment in the Flies and Spiders chapter of The Hobbit where Bilbo climbs to the top of the trees in the dark, dreary forest of Mirkwood and is met by blinding sunlight and butterflies, is one that means the world to me.  This wouldn’t be the first time I’ve made art inspired by it.  That moment in the book, the film, and the music so perfectly composed for it, remind me that no matter what darkness we may find ourselves in, no matter how deeply entrenched we may feel, that it is never the end, and that we will always “find the sun.”

Was this from Wednesday’s class? Because I kept telling everyone around me I was hearing Lord of the Rings from the walls and they were looking at me like I was crazy!

it’d be cool if there were like Sesame Street style shows for teenagers and Young Adults that teach you things like what to do at the post office and how not to be an asshole at parties

Why, so high schoolers and college can be forced to sit through them and laugh at them? Because any life education videos I’ve ever watched were drowned out by obnoxious commentary and comments of, “this is sooooo gaaaaaaay”. And then we were forced to watch some ones about parties, sexual assault, and drinking at my first uni, guess what happened? People came drunk to them.

Oh my God between the snow storm and my brother not getting off his PS4 like I asked him to 30 MINUTES AGO our WiFi was lagging so hard my paper couldn’t be submitted on time.  I finished with 15 minutes of breathing room to submit it.  For my brother’s sake, this prof had better be one that believes in the 5 10-minute grace period.

Oh gosh I can’t wait, I love your photos to bits.

There’s something amazing about seeing pregnant wild animals. It’s so hard living in the wild under normal circumstances, so it must be extra hard to survive while pregnant. It really shows how tough wild animals are! Plus there’s the excitement of knowing there will soon be baby animals everywhere! x3

Anyway, here’s some random pregnant animals I’ve been lucky enough to photograph over the years; Roe Doe, Donna and Half-brush~

WHY THE HECK ARE HEROIC COUPLETS IMPORTANT???  WHAT DO THEY SIGNIFY???  WHY WOULD ALEXANDER POPE PREFER THEM???

I DON’T KNOW AND I’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR OVER AN HOUR BUT EVERYONE JUST SAYS “ALEXANDER POPE MADE THEM FASHIONABLE”.

BUT WHY.

WHY?????

sometimes screaming about something yields embarrassingly instant results, so for anyone who care, this is an excellent (albeit dated website) article on rhyming couplets from the National Humanities Society.

MY FAVORITE SONG!!!!!

The longer you listen, the better it flows, and the more soothing it gets.

I think that’s called a trance though.

I’ve pretty much been home alone for the duration of my sickness and it’s not been easy. Little things like laundry and dishes and letting my dogs out to go to the bathroom have been terrible chores. I don’t like being sick and alone.
