if artistic people are forced to take years of math and science then why don’t sciencey people have to take art and music classes
someone found a real life plot hole
boom bitch
And if you’re “bad” at art and music, then “it’s okay, not everyone has an aptitude for those kinds of things” but if you’re bad at math and science, then “you’re not smart/you’re not trying hard enough”
Because art and music are more expressive and subjective thus more difficult to grade. You could mechanize and flatten the arts to make results testable but that would produce a very bleak art world.
In math and science, at least at the grade school level, usually there’s a right or wrong answer. Now how you arrive at said answer allows for more creativity, but you can pretty easily judge with certainty if the answer is right or wrong.
Because art is so subjective (see Dada) you would have to develop a schema of what is right or wrong in order to grade it on a level that would make it a comparable class to the usual core classes. To require all students to take as many arts classes as math and science, you would have to objectify art.
Also I’m not sure what schools you were in because every school I’ve attended (including two high schools) required EVERYONE to take at least two arts classes.
