It wasn’t until my brother entered his teenage years and started talking about how much he hated how he looked, that he was ugly, etc. that I realized that boys go through it as well.

And for them it’s worse because they don’t have compliments being showered on them that “all boys are beautiful” like girls get.  Girls are told all of these things throughout their formative years, but boys are not.  Girls are allowed to cry, wear make-up to change their appearance, or talk about their feelings of inadequacy, but boys are not.  Boys get told to “man up”, to not be weak, and if they even dye their hair they’re ridiculed.

Let’s take care of our boys like we take care of our girls.
