Men In Disney Movies Are Talking More Than You Think
Little kids (and adults) might adore Disney Princesses. But there’s a major problem with some of our favorite supposedly female-centric films: how much time men spend speaking versus women per classic movie. It turns out women actually got LESS speaking time as women’s political rights progressed.
I don’t fucking care. Nobody should care, if they do care they need to check into a mental hospital to be treated for: BITCHY FEMINIST ENTITLEMENT SYNDROME
Isn’t Aladdin the main character in Aladdin? And isn’t he… yknow, male? This is so cherry picked, what about Frozen with TWO female leads? And Tangled with a female lead and villain? And of course male characters talk more, there are MORE MALE CHARACTERS. It’s a lot easier to have male gag characters (see: all of them) than female because it’s too terrifying to have a less than shining perfect female character. Also, look at Pocahontas where it’s ALL MEN coming to America, and the primarily male native Americans. However the lead is still the title character: Pocahontas. Snow White? She and the evil queen are sharing air time with SEVEN MALE dwarves. She could for 7 minutes and the dwarves one minute each (except mute Dopey) and it would even out. I bet if you compared the speaking time by CHARACTER, the female leads would out voice every male character, or come close second. This is just a bullshit comparison.
