The Grimm Brothers and their collection of fairytales are famous the world over. From Little Red Cap to Snow White, we all have heard the stories, in one way or another. The brothers collected these stories from all across Europe, but many of these stories were based around or were inspired by one thing; the Black Forest. The Black Forest, or the Schwarzwald, is a 2,320 mile long span of trees atop mountainous land.  The forest is vast, dense, and, by proxy, treacherous. It is generally believed that the fairytales surrounding the Black Forest were created to keep children safe. They were to keep children out of the woods, so they wouldn’t get lost or fall prey to any of the animals that the forest played host to. That being said, there are still people who feel the stories are more than just fairytales. But whether you believe that or not is up to you. Are there just wolves and rabbits in those trees? Or is there something else? Something darker.
