Holy moly, I got a lot of responses to my Golbat/Crobat dilema!  Thanks so much you guys! ♥

I gave it a Soothe Bell and just kept levelling it up at the Battle Chateau (because money grinding as well) and that did the trick by the time it reached level 40 (started with a level 12 Zubat, pfft).  Did not know that affection and friendship were different, because I’d used affection to get Sylveons, Umbreons, and Espeons.  I must’ve just gotten lucky.
