How does the vixen react when she finds her mate?
Is it a dull accident or the guiding hand of fate?
How does she look upon the father of her kits?
Does she feel joy or resignation as she commits?
Is the decision instant or does it take years?
Is it even hers?

“The Fox and the Crow”
Inspired by the song “The Fox, the Crow, and the Cookie” by Mewithoutyou, which was inspired by the old folk tale.
While the tale is great, something about the imagery of the song really brought it to life to me. I tried to incorporate as much of the dessert imagery in as well as the whimsical feeling.
This was also a personal experiment. I tend to get too “character” focused in my art and not… “art” focused. Here I wanted to focus on the overall feeling of the picture, notjustthe characters. I wanted movement, a coordinated color scheme, and interesting lines.

“
And the fox said, “But if you tame me, it will be as if the sun came to shine on my life. I shall know the sound of a step that will be different from all the others. Other steps send me hurrying back underneath the ground. Yours will call me, like music out of my burrow. And then look: you see the grain-fields down yonder? I do not eat bread. Wheat is of no use to me. The wheat fields have nothing to say to me. And that is sad. But you have hair that is the color of gold. Think how wonderful that will be when you have tamed me! The grain, which is also golden, will bring me back the thought of you. And I shall love to listen to the wind in the wheat…”
The fox gazed at the little prince, for a long time. “Please–tame me!” he said.
